Today I received my package with LG Optimus 2X, which I have ordered from 4launch.nl - I recommend them for great support and fast delivery!
And now about the device:
The hardware feels great, the quality of materials used is very hihg, the O2X feels very solid in hand. The IPS display, covered with curved Gorilla Glass is very bright, and I don't miss AMOLED fom SGS at all.
The stock LG Launcher isn't the fastest one, but once you replace with ADW or Launcher Pro it is balzing fast.
Overall the device is very responsive.
Now I'm going to root it, install CWM recovery, and try some fun with custom ROMs.

Why buying LG Optimus 2X was a good decission
Guys, it's been a while, since I ordered my O2X, it's still isn't here (should be in the middle of next week), but there are many factors which tell me, that buying this smartphone was a very good decission.
1. Great hackability
The O2X is one of the few high-end smartphones which are not equipped with any type of encryption, which would prevent users from installing modified kernels, custom ROMs and recoveries. LG allowed users to take advantage of their devices.
It has been proved by Paul O'Brien, who already prepared CWM Recovery, MoDaCo Custom Kernel and MoDaCo custom ROM, increasing the funcionality of the dual-core O2X.
Recent news tell, that there is official CyanogenMod ROM in works, yesterday known Android hacker kmobs tweeted two photos of LG O2X running CM7 RC, which is based on Gingerbread.
2. Tegra2 CPU + GeForce ULV GPU
The NVIDIA's dual core CPU boosts the performance of Android OS, and is currently the most advanced SoC available on the market. The performance of device may even increase with new version of Android, which will take advantage of the real power of dual-core smartphones.
There were many articles showing why dual-core devices are so outstanding, my favourite one is from AndroidAndMe, you can check it out:
AndroidAndMe: 5 compelling reasons you will want to buy a dual-core mobile device
3. Good hardware quality
The LG optimus 2X was designed in rather conservative way, the design is rather simple and minimalistic. The materials which were used are ordinary, but solid. The O2X includes soft-touch plastick back cover with the metal strip, and GorillaGlass front with the curved edges. For me - nothing to add more, great that LG didn't used the shiny plastic cover like in Korean version.
4. TMobile G2X
Few weeks ago TMobile confirmed, that they will launch O2X as their next G-series device, running vanilla Android. This information is great for all European O2X owners, because it will boost user support for this device.
Also there shouldn't be a problem with porting G2X stock Android ROM to O2X, which is just another advantage.
5. Great relation of price - quality
The LG Optimus 2X isn't as overpriced as many new devices which are released/available for preorder, which makes it much more attractive. The current price equals around 470 Euro including all taxes, so it's very competitive.
In my previous articles I focused more on disadvantiges, proving that the LG Optimus 2X isn't a perfect device. Surely, but there are many positive factors which made me order this smartphone. It's one of the best products released this year, and with the growing community support I feel it will have a very long life.
Isn't that how the 'Nexus' device should look like?

LG Optimus 2X release dates for UK
Most of us are still waiting for the O2X to be available in their country. It looks like we have stable release dates for UK now. Most of sources confirm, that the beginning of the April is the launch date for the new dual-core LG smartphone for th United Kingdom.
According to phones4u.co.uk, the customers can recieve their orders at 8.04
Expansys.uk is expecting delivery in two days, but I don't know if their release dates are reliable, they change them quite often for LG Optimus 2X.

Why LG disappointed me with O2X once again
It's been a while, since I published post, about why I deicded to see what other manufacturers will present, before buying LG's dual core Optimus 2X.
A little bit of history: the device was officially announced 16th December, and was said to be launhced in Q1 2011 - first in Korea, than Eourope was supposed to follow.
The sale in Korea started at the end of January, and everyone (at least me) was excited to see it in Europe.
Nothing was sure until MWC (February 2011) - smartphone was presented to wide audiece, and LG calimed that it is comming soon.
Few weeks ago (around mid-March) first shipment of O2X came to Netherlands (Rotherdam is the largest port in Europe - every big ship arrives there), and the device was finally launched. The next to follow were Danemark, Belgium and Sweden.
But no O2X for the rest of Europe.
I have pre-ordered mine O2X from Polish retailer around 28.02, but still no package for me. Also Expansys changed few times their release dates, and I covered that in my previous posts. Amazon.de changed the launch date to 31.03, together with price increase.
Today I contacted the shop where I've placed my preorder, and they shared with me information, that the shipment may be delayed once again because of Japan tsunami - they were supposed to get it until end of this week, but this might not happen.
The LG Optimus 2X is a very good device, and was supposed to become market bestseller because of it's processing power, delivered by Tegra2. Fast release would be one of it's selling points, but it's nearly April, and on the horizon we see the GalaxyS II which includes double of RAM and SAMOLED+, there is also HTC Pyramid, with 1,2 GHz Snapdragon, 768MB of RAM, and with this devices in the same price range, customers may have problems with choosing LG as their next device.
I have canceled my preorder, now I'm waiting for CTIA, and will see if the HTC Pyramid is worth waiting additional few weeks more - I've waited so long for O2X, why shouldn't I wait more for (much?) better device...
I'm also thinking about paying few Euro's more, and ordering the O2X from Netherlands.
