I've got my Liquid A1 for about a year now, and I started thinking about replacing it with better device, here are the devices, which are in my mind at the moment:
Acer Liquid Metal:
The successor of original Liquid which I own, with upgraded CPU, made with better materials, with bigger screen (3.6"), running Android 2.2 Froyo with Acer UI.
Pros:
+ good quality of casing
+ nice price
Cons:
- single core CPU
- poor Acer support
Motorola Olympus:
New Motorola phone, which is said to be launched Q1 2011, featuring 4.1" display, Tegra 2 CPU, 8 MP camera with 1080p, running Android 2.2 Froyo with Motoblur.
Pros:
+ Tegra 2 CPU
+ HDMI-out
Cons:
- poor hackability of Motorola devices
- delays of system updates by Motorola
Samsung Nexus S:
Next device from Nexus line, which is known as developers devices, which will include dual core CPU (Orion?), 4" AMOLED display, shiny plastic casing.
Pros:
+ developer device - gets latest updates, great hackability, big support
+ beautiful AMOLED display
Cons:
- casing could be weak quality
- shiny plastic - fingerprint magnet
LG Star:
New LG device, which will arrive in January 2011, including Tegra2, 8 MP camera, 4" display, 1500 mAh battery, running stock Android 2.2/2.3
Pros:
+ Tegra 2
+ clean version of Android
Cons:
- LG never was reliable brand for me...
What about HTC?
I haven't heared much about any new dual-core HTC device, all I know is that the 1.5 GHz version of dual-core Snapdragon will be delayed because of some problems. Hopefully we will see some leaks in upcoming weeks.
It looks like 2011 will be a hot year for every Android fan!
Atm, without any HTC device info, my best types are LG Star and Nexus S, because of stock Android.
